Serving Quincy, MA
Our shop is in Warwick, Rhode Island, not in Quincy. Every wheel, caliper and metal part is coated there, typically about an hour from Quincy depending on how the Braintree split is moving.
The short answer
Quincy sits right on the water, and that shows up on metal. Salt air off Quincy Bay, winter brine on Route 3A and the I-93 corridor, and tight curbside parking in Quincy Center all wear finishes down faster than most people expect.
Text us a photo of your wheels or parts and the look you want. We will give you a ballpark price and tell you what the job likely involves before you plan the drive south.
Most of New England deals with road salt. Quincy gets it twice: brine on Quincy Shore Drive, Hancock Street, Furnace Brook Parkway and the Southern Artery every winter, plus salt air drifting in from Wollaston Beach, Squantum and Houghs Neck year round.
That combination finds every chip and every patch of curb rash, then starts corrosion under factory clear coat. It is the reason so many wheels around North Quincy and Merrymount show white bubbling at the lip after a few seasons. Powder coating starts over from bare, blasted metal instead of covering that corrosion up.
Quincy has a lot of older homes with iron porch and stair railings, and a lot of patio furniture that sits outside near the water. Both are good candidates for powder coating once rust starts pushing through the paint. We also coat home radiators for owners renovating older houses.
With Marina Bay and the Town River nearby, boat owners bring us marine hardware and metal boat parts too. Motorcycle frames, wheels and small parts are welcome as well. If it is metal and fits in our oven, text a photo and ask.
Because the drive is typically about an hour each way, we suggest texting a photo first. You get a ballpark price and a sense of whether the wheel needs straightening, crack welding or just a refinish, so there are no surprises when you arrive. The final price is set once we have the part in front of us.
Bring wheels with the tires still mounted. We dismount, repair, coat, cure, remount and balance in one place, so you skip the extra stop at a tire shop. If the finish is not right, we redo it at no cost.
