Serving Newton, MA
To be clear from the start: our only shop is in Warwick, Rhode Island. Newton customers bring their wheels and parts there, and from most of Newton it is typically about an hour down I-95 (Route 128) once you are past the Needham and Dedham interchanges.
The short answer
Newton drivers tend to care about the details. We see a lot of European sedans and SUVs from Newton Centre, Chestnut Hill and West Newton whose factory wheels have started to peel, plus calipers people want to color match to the car.
Text us a photo, tell us the look you want, and we will give you a ballpark price before you plan the drive.
Newton sits right between the Mass Pike and Route 128, with Commonwealth Avenue, Washington Street and Route 9 carrying a lot of daily traffic. Stop-and-go driving on Route 9 near the Chestnut Hill shopping area packs brake dust into wheels, and that dust slowly eats into the finish.
Winter brings salt and brine on every main road and the hills along Comm Ave, and spring brings frost heaves and potholes. Salt that gets under a chip or curb scrape is what starts the bubbling and peeling so common on factory wheels around here.
Many wheels on Newton driveways are machined, two-tone or painted finishes from European brands. When the clear coat fails, the fix is to strip the wheel, blast it clean and powder coat it in a finish you choose from the Prismatic Powders library: gloss black, satin bronze, gunmetal, silver and thousands more.
Calipers are a popular add-on. Painted calipers in red, yellow or a color matched to the car show through the spokes, and powder generally handles brake heat and brake dust better than spray paint.
Newton homes from Auburndale to Newton Highlands have plenty of iron and aluminum patio sets, railings and garden pieces that have rusted or faded after a few New England winters. Those can be sandblasted and powder coated in our Warwick shop.
Because the trip is about an hour, the best first step is a text with photos and rough sizes. We will tell you what fits in the oven and give you a ballpark price before you load the car.
