Sandblasting & Media Blasting in Warwick, RI

Every good coating job starts with blasting. Paint and powder only stick as well as the surface underneath, and in New England that surface is usually hiding rust from years of salt and moisture.

The short answer

Sandblasting & Media Blasting in Warwick, RI: the short version

Sandblasting, or media blasting, uses abrasive media fired at high pressure to remove rust, paint, powder and mill scale from metal, leaving a clean surface ready for coating. Ocean State Powder Coating blasts wheels, auto parts and industrial metal at its Warwick, RI shop, either as prep for powder coating or as a standalone service.

We blast wheels and brake parts before coating, but we also blast parts on their own: brackets, frames, railings, trailer parts, motorcycle pieces, patio furniture and other metal that needs to go back to bare.

If you plan to coat it afterward, keeping both steps in one shop means the part goes from blasting to powder without sitting around picking up flash rust.

Why it is worth doing right

01

Down to clean metal

Rust, paint, old powder and scale come off, so you can see the real condition of the part.

02

Better coating adhesion

A blasted surface gives powder something to grip, which is a big part of how long a finish lasts.

03

Blast and coat in one place

No transport between a blaster and a coater, and less time for bare steel to start rusting.

04

Auto and industrial parts

From a set of wheels to a batch of brackets, we handle both individual and business work.

Good fit for

  • Wheels before refinishing
  • Rusty car and truck parts
  • Railings, gates and frames
  • Trailer and equipment parts
  • Motorcycle frames and parts
  • Outdoor metal furniture

Sandblasting & Media Blasting: common questions

Yes. You can bring parts in for blasting only and take them back bare, or have us powder coat them right after.
Most metal parts: wheels, brackets, frames, railings, trailer parts, motorcycle parts and outdoor furniture. Very thin sheet metal can warp under aggressive blasting, so tell us what the part is and we will advise.
It depends on size, shape and how much rust or coating is on the part. Small parts are usually priced per piece and larger jobs by the batch. Text us a photo for a quote.
Powder needs clean, slightly textured metal to bond well. Coating over rust or old paint usually leads to peeling and corrosion under the new finish.
Bare steel can start to flash rust fairly quickly, especially in humid weather. If you are not coating it with us, plan to prime or coat it soon after pickup.
